After the War of the Roses between the Houses of York and Lancaster, England enjoys a period of peace. However, the king's younger brother, Richard, makes plans to exterminate his brothers and rivals in order to conquer the throne of England, plans that he later successfully implements. In “Richard the Third” we follow the Machiavellian rise to power of a corrupt man and his brief reign, which is interrupted by a violent death.
During rehearsals for a production of Shakespeare's Richard the Third, a director behaves overbearingly and harasses his actors. As the rehearsals progress, the director, who has kept the lead role to himself, becomes increasingly aggressive, especially towards a young actor, pushing the rehearsals to the limit. Many years after the performance, the actor decides to share his story.
In this free adaptation of Shakespeare's “Richard the Third”, we witness the dark stories of abuse of power behind closed rehearsal doors, which are increasingly coming to light in our days.
